I have volunteered on committees at every job that has given me the opportunity. I enjoy making a positive impact on company culture, whether that’s joining diversity groups or organizing events.
Moz Gender Minorities in Tech
I participated in Moz’s Gender Minorities in Tech group (GMIT) as an organizer. I attended regular meetings, brainstormed ideas, and created presentations. Some of the topics covered were project leadership, mindfulness, and networking.
Most of my time at Moz took place over the pandemic, so my topics were heavily focused on accomplishing these things in our new remote world.
OpenMarket Diversity Newsletter
I partnered with the lead content writer to launch OpenMarket's diversity program. We wanted to start the conversation and promote transparency about the company's diversity goals across the organization. This was only the first step in a very necessary initiative, and I hope the effort to increase diversity continued after my departure.
OpenMarket Employee Appreciation
As an organizer on OpenMarket’s Happiness Committee, I designed flyers yearly for OpenMarket’s Employee Appreciation Week. I also planned activities for specific days throughout the week, sourcing vendors and managing a budget.
